LAS 18

Two months had passed since Eli went missing. The coast guard still went out everyday and searched for him. I walked down to the beach where I could see them circling the island. The divers would get out and disappear underwater for a bit…and they always came back up empty handed. I patiently waited in the rain for them to come back to shore…just so they could tell me the same exact thing that they did the day before. “We’re sorry mam, but there have been no further developments in the whereabouts of your grandson. But we promise to keep looking as long as we have the resources and manpower to do so.” The officer repeated while looking down at his feet. I sighed. “Thank you. We appreciate everything you’re doing.” Feeling weary and pretty damn hollow inside, I walked back to the cabin to share the unhappy news with the rest of the family…
